School Closure
Severe weather conditions
If worsening weather conditions indicate that by 3.30 pm children and staff may have difficulty getting home, every attempt will be made to contact you to ask you to come and collect your child from school.
If you anticipate difficulties collecting your children later in the day due to weather conditions, please collect them early or telephone us to let us know what arrangements to make.
Needless to say, the Head, Deputy or other authorised staff will remain at school until all children have been safely collected by their parents.
If the decision is made not to open school as a result of deteriorating conditions overnight, parents will be notified by text message and email; announcements will be made on local radio stations and a message added to the home page of our school website.
Text Messaging Service
The school has a duty of care to all of its pupils, and this care comes into being everyday at the start of the school day and whilst the pupil is on the school premises. In order to assist with this duty we use a text messaging service to communicate more easily on a number of subjects, such as first day absence, emergency closure, and events.
To inform parents or designated carers of important issues the text messaging service will send a standard text message to the designated mobile phone number. Apart from the contact telephone number and the pupil’s first name, no other personal data will be retained by the texting company.
If you have any objections to the school contacting you in this way, please inform the school in writing.
